A young football fan made headlines following his extremely cheeky sign at a Premier League match on the weekend.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham travelled to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest in the opening game of the weekend.

Spurs were coming off a season-stabilising 4-1 victory over Newcastle and intent on continuing their push for the top four, while Forest were hoping for some points at home in their battle against relegation.

But a fan spotted in the stands stole some of the focus from the pitch for his risque attempt at distracting Tottenham striker Richarlison.

The Brazilian striker with the bleached hair is a polarising figure who spent time at Watford and Everton before moving to north London last season to join Spurs.

The 26-year-old has endured some long scoreless streaks as a professional and recently discussed his battles with his mental health.

If he spotted the sign at the game, held by a young lad who could barely see over the bilingual poster, it surely would have produced at least a chuckle.

“Richarlison, my mum prefers a Brazilian to a Forest,” the extremely cheeky sign read.

The phrase was then repeated below it in Portuguese as if to ensure the striker was aware of the sentiment from his mother.

We’ll leave you to decipher the double meaning, but if it was meant to distract Richarlison, it backfired.

The Brazilian, as in the country of origin for the star No. 9, nothing to do with hairstyles, opened the scoring just before halftime against Forest.

Dejan Kulusevski then sealed the points at the City Ground with a second on 65 minutes.

Added to his brace against Newcastle, Richarlison has been a huge factor in Tottenham’s season to date, Postecoglou’s side currently fifth just a point behind Manchester City.

Some fans were quick to notice the sign in the stands.

“What a boy,” was one caption on X.

“This is incredible,” wrote another.

But another wondered if the young boy had any idea what he was actually holding.

“He has no clue,” they wrote. ”Poor kid.”
