Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson is having a major fashion moment, turning up to various Fashion Week events in Paris with a newly natural look.

The celebrity once known for her pin-up girl body, big hair and heavy, glamorous makeup, has stripped it right down to basics – turning up to shows with not a skerrick of cosmetics.

It’s prompted journalists and fashion editors to celebrate Anderson, 56, as symbolic of a new, age-embracing aesthetic, a marked change from the “anti-ageing” and plastic surgery message women have been sold for decades.

But there’s a heartbreaking reason behind Anderson’s new raw, stripped-back look.

In an interview with Elle, the star revealed that she decided to go makeup-free after losing her long-term makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, to breast cancer in 2019.

“She was the best,” Anderson said.

“And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup”.

“I did notice that there were all these people doing big makeup looks, and it’s just like me to go against the grain and do the opposite of what everyone’s doing,” Anderson said.

“Plus, I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older.

“And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror.

“I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.

“I feel good. I’m in a good place.”

At Paris Fashion Week, Anderson rocked up to the Isabel Marant show in a vivid lime dress, unfussy hair and a face free of cosmetics.

She also appeared at her late friend Vivienne Westwood’s show, now designed by Westwood’s husband Andreas Kronthaler.

At Victoria Beckham’s show, her natural beauty once again shone through, with Anderson donning a feminine floral dress and pale pink wedge shoes.

Decades on from Baywatch, the show that made her famous, Anderson is having a career resurgence as a fashion model.

She’s appeared in numerous Westwood campaigns over the years, but has also recently shot an editorial campaign for Canadian label Aritzia, modelled at a Hugo Boss show and sat front row at hip fashion label Jacquemus.

“I’m working more than ever, when I thought I was retired,” Anderson told Elle.

Oscar-winning actress Jamie-Lee Curtis, 64, recently took to Instagram to praise Anderson for her makeup-free look, calling it a “brave” act that she hoped would spark a “natural beauty revolution” in an industry obsessed with youthful perfection.

Other celebs agreed.

“She was GLOWING,” wrote RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, while Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards said she looked “beautiful”.

“She looks magnificent,” one of Curtis’s followers wrote.

“She knew social media could rip her apart but she did it anyway,” said another.

“That’s a strong statement for a professional beauty to make in today’s age of online bullying and harassment.”

Added a third: “She looks more beautiful than ever before.”
