The Matildas have been hit with another injury blow, with star defender Clare Hunt reportedly suffering a stress fracture in her foot.

Hunt, who has risen to prominence in the past 12 months, didn’t play for her French club team Paris Saint-Germain on Monday (AEDT) in a 3-1 win over Montpellier.

According to football network Canal+Foot, the 25-year-old former Canberra United and Western Sydney Wanderers centre-back has a stress fracture in her foot.

The Matildas have already lost captain and star striker Sam Kerr for this year’s Olympic Games after she ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee in January.

Hunt now seems in severe doubt for the Matildas’ friendly international against Mexico in Texas next month, and depending on the severity of the injury, could also struggle to be fit for Australia’s matches with China on May 31 and June 3 in Adelaide and Sydney respectively.
