A popular Perth bakery chain has “unexpectedly” closed one of its locations.
Mary Street Bakery Claremont, in Perth’s western suburbs, shut just before Christmas, letting customers know with a sign in the window.
The store, which had been open for three years, apologised for the sudden closure and thanked customers for their loyalty.
“Dear valued customers,” the sign read.
“We have some news to share with you. Mary Street Bakery Claremont has suspended operations as of today.
“Thank you for being part of our Mary Street Bakery community.”
The store hinted at a possible return in some form, describing the closure as a “hiatus” and telling customers to “watch this space”.
“We understand this might be unexpected, and we appreciate your understanding as we take this hiatus,” it said.
The reason behind the closure is unclear.

Customers shared their disappointment at the news on social media.
“Wife was mad as hell at (the news), we were frequent customers,” one person wrote.
Mary Street Bakery has five other locations in Perth: Highgate, City Beach, West Leederville, QV1 Plaza and Allendale Square.
The popular chain, known for its brunch menu and baked goods, is owned by Paul Aron, who opened the first location in Highgate in 2003.
