Bride horrified after her best friend books her wedding the same weekend as hers
‘That is not a friend, did she really think everyone would jump ship from your wedding to hers?’
Imagine you have your dream wedding all booked and then you discover your best friend and maid of honour has booked her wedding the exact same weekend as yours?
Well, this is exactly what happened to one bride.
The bride’s fiancé recently took to Reddit and shared his future wife’s tricky situation.
The bride-to-be and her fiancé became engaged in May 2022 and booked their wedding for September 2024, telling all of their family and friends at the same time.
The bride asked her best friend to be maid of honour and her best friend then also became engaged the year after in 2023.
However, at the end of last year, the bride’s best friend approached her and asked about getting married in September 2024 as well and said she had “always wanted a September wedding”.
“It’s not really my place to say you can’t have a wedding in the same month I do,” the bride-to-be said to her best friend.
But a week later, this same friend announced in a group chat that she had booked her wedding.
The venue she had booked was an hour away from where all her friends lived and she had booked it the day before the bride’s wedding, on the exact same weekend.
The bride was in shock and told her friend it would be difficult to attend the wedding, let alone be a bridesmaid for her and the rest of the friends in the group expressed the same thing.
The best friend is now breaking down about how stressed she is about planning a wedding with only nine months to go.
She’s also using the bride’s photographer and florist because she “doesn’t have time to research”.
“What an illogical move by this friend to book the day after her best friend’s wedding,” explained the man.
People in the comments were quick to share their shock and agreed with the man.
“Does she want everyone to be hungover at her wedding? What if you guys had plans to do a honeymoon immediately? She’s being extremely selfish, but it will only be to her own detriment,” said one.
“That is not a friend, did she really think everyone would jump ship from your wedding to hers? I am sure she did, what a stupid thing to do,” added another.
“This woman is jealous of the attention she thinks your partner is getting. She is incredibly selfish because as much as a wedding is about a couple, to put your closest friends in this situation is terrible,” a third added.
Others suggested it was a “power play” from the friend and an aim to win a “popularity contest”.
